UV31301 Provide Aromatherapy For Complementary Therapies
The aromatherapy course runs over 9 full days on a monthly basis (with the exception of the first 2 weekends) followed by a final 1/2 day for assessment
There are no pre-entry requirements for this course
The cost for the aromatherapy unit is £1,190 which includes face-to-face training, manuals, online resources, email support and assessment
Learners will need to compile a portfolio of evidence, complete case studies and assignments. Learners will be expected to complete 60 aromatherapy treatments before the end of the course. This is a requirement of VTCT which demonstrates the professional nature of this course
Learners will need to bring their evidence to a final 1/2 day session during which a practical assessment will be undertaken
Additional costs - £108.00 VTCT fee (2021-2022)
Learners are expected to wear salon uniform, minimal makeup, no nail polish and hair should be tied back and off the face. If learners do not own a salon uniform, they may wear black trousers, flat closed-in black shoes, black socks and a plain black t-shirt or polo shirt
This course covers:
Aromatherapy Unit
42 essential oils and 19 carrier oils; preparation of self, client and work area for treatment; benefits and effects of aromatherapy; contra indications; consultations; health, safety and security; history, philosophy and role of aromatherapy and other massage traditions; taxonomy, nomenclature, structure and function of plants in relation to the production of essences, fixed carrier oils and other media; methods of extraction; chemical constituents of essences; percentage dilutions and blending techniques; degradation and spoilage of essential oils; uses, application and origin of essences, fixed oils and other media; safe handling of products; importance of correct maintenance and storage of products, materials, tools and equipment; contra actions and aftercare advice; legislation; evaluation and reflection
Assessment is by way of assignments. There is no external exam paper
Principles And Practice For Complementary Therapies Unit
The history, origins and theories of complementary therapies, legislation, codes of conduct, professional organisations, consultation and communication techniques, confidentiality, treatment planning and referrals

Legislation, insurance, marketing and public relations, employment opportunities, business types and business plan
